Which brings me to Canada. I moved with my family (much against my wishes) to Grimsby, Ontario. Why Grimsby? Yah...once again, not my idea. My first impression of actually living in Canada, rather than just visiting it, was realizing how much people enjoyed their coffee. Not just any coffee but Tim Hortons Coffee. Now, I understand that this is more of a small town thing, even possibly just a Grimsby thing. Tim Hortons in Grimsby is NOT just a coffee place, its an institution, everyone goes there, at least once a day. As a teenager you really have no other option besides hanging out at one of the uh..6 Tim Hortons in town.
It didn't take me long to start making Grimsby my home. People were not as friendly as I remember people in the South were to outsiders. My parents probably still feel as if they get the shaft from Grimsby-folk (good thing they are finally moving this summer to Toronto).

There are really only three types of Grimsby-folk.

1) The "born and raised in Grimsby" folks who believe there is no other world outside of Grimsby, that will NEVER...ever...leave....
2) The "born and raised I can't wait to get the hell out of here" folks.
3) Those who are outsiders who never really wanted to live in Grimsby in the first place...

I have no real beef with Grimsby. I think its a clean area but not the greatest place to bring up your children because unless they are reasonably gifted they will probably wind up being small-minded, ignorant assholes. There are a lot of things I loved about my teenage life there. I had a fun group of girlfriends for the early portion of my high school life and then as I got older my geekier tendencies started to seep out more.... and more and It quickly became less appropriate in my ultra-girly world...so I found newer...much geekier...much *leeter* friends. There was nothing wrong with my old ones but it was what I needed at that time. Chances are I have more in common with those girls NOW than I ever did then.

Skipping past the bad years - grade 11-OAC....concluding that I turned out okay and survived my "rebellious stage". I then made the bad decision of making York University my school of choice. Yah...still regretting that one today. Even though my program is amazing, its just the school in general, and the people who attend class with me that drive me absolutely nuts...and perhaps just a little bit too close to Woodbridge for my own comfort.

(did you know that people in Woodbridge go to the movie theatre to pick people up? Yah....its not your typical movie theatre. Usually you bring dates/friends there but in Woodbridge, you go to find your date to the movies.)

First year University was interesting...I don't think I did much other than play Counter-strike almost 9 hours a day on average and there were at least 4 days during the week, I would play anywhere from 10-15 hours a day. *No...I am not exaggerating*

Thankfully, after a few years I figured out the perfect balance between all the things I love. I still manage to get my 'geek on' in large amounts without it interfering in any way with my other activities. For example, when people come knock on my door, asking me to come out and play, I don't turn off the monitor, jump in bed, play sick and then go back to playing Everquest. Ohhh No. I will get my party on if need be. My excuse for doing the massive geek out for two years of University was that I got my "party on" a little bit too much in high school and needed a break ( I suppose that's usually the other way around?)

Oh..in between those years I wasted my summers away working for Aon Reed Stenhouse, downtown Toronto on Bay and QueensQuay. It is there that I learned the evils of Insurance and how everyone who seems to work in Insurance is either divorced, cheating, getting a divorce, thinking about getting a divorce. The last summer I worked there, I spent most of my time blogging about how much I hate Aon and some of my fellow co-workers (typing Aon or Nelia into the search box will probably bring up some amusing tidbits about Insurance life). There is only one truly cool person working for them and that is Andrew Coole. Yes, he's last name REALLY is Coole. Hopefully he too, will find a way out of Aon.

So thats about it. This is where I am right now. Not very exciting. Perhaps when something actually interesting happens (like killing a homeless man) I will include it here, on my life story page. I doubt it though...because if I kill a homeless dude I will probably need to keep in on the down-low...for at least...a few months.

OOh yah. I will soon be the very proud owner of a 2004 Yamaha Vino 125. Oh bebe yah. Which means coming soon to this site a 'tales of Christie and her Vino' section with tons of leet pictures and interesting Toronto stories.

Cheers,

Christie

I was born in Bermuda. Yes. The island. No. I don't remember it. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia around the age of 3. If you want to know how absolutely amazing it was, ask my parents. They had the pleasure of living there for 9 years. I don't want to think of their activities prior to my birth. I like to forget that my parents ever had a life before me. Far too disturbing.

Moving on... I also don't know much about my time spent in Georgia. I have only a few memories of my time there. One of those memories is of me colouring on the walls of a friend's room because she told me it was washable and that she was allowed to do it all the time. I also remember being yelled at for quite some time afterwords. The other four memories are the following:

1) My kindergarden teacher never gave me a sticker and made me sit in the corner without the other kids. Then I remember my mother coming to pick me up, not believing me that my teacher made me the only student in the class to sit in the corner and go without having a gold star all day.

2) I remember a neighbourhood kid came over to 'play' with me in my backyard, then hit a beehive with a baseball bat, ran into my house and shut the door on me. I remember being in a lot of pain....and terrified of bees ever since.

3) I remember losing two of my teeth, 1 in a milkdude at a movie the other in an apple in my backyard. I remember feeling jipped by the toothfairy because I lost them both in the same week and for some reason in 'tooth land' that means my teeth were less valuable...

4) The night before the big move to Springdale, Arkansas, all I wanted to do was stay in my friend Meridith's treehouse over night since her father had JUST finished building it....being denied that option...and leaving without a proper goodbye to my best friend.

Arkansas...I remember pretty much everything, so a condensed list would be practically impossible, however I will try to highlight some of my favourite parts of living in Arkansas...here:

1) Having the coolest neighbour/best friend ever, who continues to rock, even when she and I aren't exactly what you would call neighbours anymore (although technically the U.S. is a neighbour to Canada and the fantabulous 'interweb' fixes most of the other locational problems).

2)Having walkie-talkies that allowed me to hear the phone conversations of our neighbours.

3) Having a fall that lasted longer than a week. Us Canadians don't really experience a real fall season.

4) Mmmm. southern cooking. Tex-Mex/Mexican food.

5) Racing caterpillars in my backyard with Ms. Jenni Johnson. We had caterpillar Olympics....no joke.

6) Fourth of July fireworks.... such a great time. One thing you have to give Americans credit for is finding great excuses for holidays: great food, great people, always a great time.

7) Most people there will agree that Bill Clinton was always a cheating, lying, dirty bastard (not arguing against his politics, just his personality)

When the weatherman even mentioned the idea of snow, school was always cancelled...and we always had snow in the winter. *smile*

9) At least during the time I lived there and in the neighbourhood I lived in, people were always friendly and the door was always open for company.

Can anyone tell me what they think are the best kitchen knives out there. I am quite frustrated because I purchased a set of Fuji kitchen knives and they went dull within the first weekend that I used them. The blade is quite thin and sharpening them does not do much. I spent over $70 for these and supposedly Rachel Ray uses these. Personally I think they are junk. I want a small and large Santuko knife for cutting and dicing anything. I also want them to stay sharp or come with a sharpener. Please let me know what you have found out there.
Thank you for your help

BitTorrent, the popular file sharing program, has been spruced up with a new user interface and queuing features. Version 4.0 of Bram Cohen's official BitTorrent client, the first major upgrade since 3.4.2 in Spring 2004, also remembers what users were doing before a restart. The feature allows users to more easily pick up where they left off. [

# 2005-03-07: 4.0.0 is now available.
Changes since the last stable release:

* All new queue-based user interface
* Many options are now modifiable from the interface, including upload rate
* Lots of other interface improvements
* Extra stats are visible, for those who like it
* Remembers what it was doing across restarts
* New .torrent maker "btmaketorrentgui" replaces "btcompletedir"
* Better performance, as always
* License has changed to the BitTorrent Open Source License
* Torrent fields are correctly created and interpreted as utf8
* Too many little things to list

A few technical notes, for those interested:

* Single port: launchmany can seed and client can download many files from a single port and thread
* Interface now uses GTK instead of wxWidgets
* BitTorrent packets are marked as bulk data to make traffic shaping easier

Anyone know of any useful HDD recovery software? My HDD bailed on me, and I hadn't run an archive in forever. The main things I wanted to get off it were all my pics from Digital Camera, and our MP3 library. The rest I don't give a shit about.hdd data recovery.

I checked one of the local Data Recovery places and this was the end result after answering their 20+ question survey:

Price Range: from 1065 to 1660

LMAO!

I've found a few other places that claim to be able to do it for "under $500".
